The Hell Girlz Project is shaping up to be one of my more ambitious works. When I started making zines/minicomics/ webcomics I never really thought it would go anywhere. If you are confused on why there is not much plot and a lot of absurdism then let me give you some hints on how to read this comic. (not really gonna spoil the whole thing that's for the video essay guys). The first comic, Death Girl, was made durring covid before I had come to the realization that I have DID (yes we are a system no we aren't gonna say how many). Volume 1 was made when I was homeless and felt aimless and I rushed to make a zine to print at the library. This was February 2020. When lockdown happened in March 2020, I had was squatting at a friend's place. They were gone for Spring Break so I basically just sat there until something happened. Nothing happened. Volume 2 was made when I finally got an apartment. Volume 3 was abandoned because I felt like I was making lolcow art ngl. The comic was too confusing to continue. I stopped posting for years hoping to one day improve and comeback.

2022 nothing happens...

2023 nothing happens...

2024 the WORST YEAR OF MY LIFE (so far) something has to fucking change! DEATH GIRL! WHERE ARE YOU DEATH GIRL! We decided to do an end of eva inspired ending to Death Girl, the comic that has no plot and no endings only vibes. for a lot of the comic we reused art from the old comic. Myrtle finds Gene's soul lost in Hell. Death Girl is finally dead, she's losing herself. The Girls must navigate Hell and Death World at the same time to sync Gene's Mind and Soul.

One thing you might notice is that in Death Girl there isn't too much dialogue. But in FINAL CUT DX they just can't stop talking. That is because I wanted to rip off 17776, I mean... I wanted to portray their thoughts taking up physical space in the comic to show that they are psychic. And I wanted to make the text overlap to show that the thoughts are compulsive and unfiltered. The different colors usually line up with the hair of the girls. But the hair changes somtimes. And the fonts can indicate different tones. This is carried on into Hell Girlz as well.

Death Girl FINAL CUT DX and Hell Girlz bleed into each other, so I guess we never really made a comic with a concrete ending. oops. They both share chapter 8 and the numbering continues as if it was the same series, but introduced in Hell Girlz is Episode Numbers... and then Volumes come back. Wow.

Now that they're alive again they do have word balloons more often... it's slowly becoming a normal comic. Maybe they'll fight crime instead of dealing with past trauma and killing Nazis and Pedos, but idk I'm also lowkey using this comic to manifest the downfall of Trump too since he made me homeless in the first place... because blah blah blah transphobia, blah blah covid, blah blah eat the rich, and read theory!

Transgender infighting and slurs are part of the comic because I am trans and the infighting does hurt me. The theme of Hell Girlz is that Hell is other people, so the other girls in Hell Girlz deliver on raising Hell and getting under your skin. Whether it is Smoke Girl clowning on Tax Boy and Death Girl's straight T4T relationship or Karen (fka Tranny Hitler) calling Death Girl AGP and a gigahon in the span of 2 seconds. The title "Tranny vs Faggot" is also a jab at the infighting. Because if it isn't trans infighting, it's the purity politics of not looking too fucking gay homo faggot queer to the str8s lmao

okay so i want to be real, i have played a lot of Digital Devil Saga in the last 24 hours. And it's got everything I wish that Death Girl was. The characters transform into monsterous demon forms. They have this funk of amnesia at all times and can't even remember human emotions like sadness. there is a kill or be killed element to the plot as everyone with these Atma markings are always hungry. I feel like I should've made death girl a bit more developed with its own lore and less a venting space for my trauma as a homeless trans woman. but I guess we can always write our way out of it. we treat this comic like a DnD campaign. Just kinda improving. The girls mentioned a thing called "Sabbath" in recent comics. I imagine it to be a power up move. Like when they hit sabbath they get a perk to level up their skill tree. I was thinking that in order to keep progress their souls would be able to save progress and that progress would be measured by a checkpoint. I guess we could've called this checkpoint anything even literally "soul checkpoint" but we wanted to reference soul hackers 2. yes this soul checkpoint is sabbath because it's that short period of rest when you level up and move your stats. the short rest before you must continue the grind.

i need a soul checkpoint, i don't want to die yet. i got more art to grind out...

borderlands was a big influence. when you died you were cloned for a fee. it was a constant cycle of pain leaving you to ask "is this really me? why do i rush into things without a plan? does any of this matters if death can be solved? what about the poorest of us all? who could pay for their incarnation?" of course it's a game and if would be lame if you couldn't spawn back because you lost all your money but imagine a hard core mode version of borderlands where if you ran out of money your save file just deletes itself. money wouldn't just be accesss to resources, it would literally be your lifeline. it would probably lead to more pack rat gameplay. but i guess if people wanted a survival wasteland they would play fallout new vegas. god damn new vegas rules.

maybe in order to spin the wheel of fortune, death girl should gamble her pentacles. the wheel will let you leave hell and respawn regardless but the wager would raise the stakes of what you can do. perhaps the consequences are worse curses and hexes. does genesis not remember her past because she is truamatized or is it because she lost her mind in a gambling mishap. i guess with the ability to loop forever we could never know. not unless we had witnesses. perhaps the other girls know her better than she could ever know herself. why does charlie hate her so much?

what did she know? what will she know? i guess no one could ever know...
